Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

When you use Mowdash we collect:

• Your email address (to sign you in via one-time code).
• Your service address, plus the geographic coordinates derived from it. If you grant location access, we may use your device location to suggest your address.
• Job history: lawn size, time window, price charged, cancellations, ratings.
• Device push notification tokens (so we can alert you about your job).
• If you operate as a landscaper: your name, vehicle description, starting location, ratings, and (when payments are enabled) your Stripe Connect account ID.
• If your organization uses Mowdash: org name, billing email, member roles, and recurring service schedules.
• If you operate as a landscaper: photos of the lawn before and after the job (you upload these from your phone), plus your device GPS at the moments you tap "Start mowing" and "Finish job". This is used to verify the work was performed at the right address.
• Basic technical information from your device (operating system, app version, anonymized error reports).

2. How we use it

We use your information to:

• Match you with a nearby landscaper and route them to your address.
• Process payments and pay landscapers.
• Send transactional emails (sign-in codes, receipts, status updates).
• Send push notifications about your job.
• Investigate fraud, abuse, or safety incidents.
• Improve the service (in aggregated, anonymized form).

3. Who we share it with

We share the minimum data necessary with the service providers that power Mowdash. Each is independently bound by their own privacy commitments:

• Convex (our backend host) — stores account data, job records, and organization data.
• Resend (email delivery) — receives your email address to send sign-in codes and receipts.
• Mapbox (maps + geocoding) — receives the address you type or your device coordinates to look up the matching location.
• Expo (push notifications) — receives push tokens and notification payloads to deliver to your device.
• Stripe (payments, when enabled) — receives the information required to charge your card and pay landscapers. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.

We also share data with the other party to your job:

• Homeowners see the landscaper’s first name, last initial, vehicle, rating, and approximate location.
• Landscapers see your full service address ONLY after they accept your job. Before accepting, they see only the neighborhood and price.
• Before/after photos uploaded by the landscaper are shown to you (the homeowner) on the job tracking and history screens. We retain them with the job record for the same period as the job itself (7 years for tax/accounting). They are not shared with third parties or used for marketing.
• The landscaper's GPS coordinates captured at "Start mowing" and "Finish job" are kept as an internal audit signal. They are not shown to the homeowner or other landscapers. We may use them to investigate fraud or disputes.

We may disclose information to law enforcement or other parties only if compelled by valid legal process or to protect the safety of users.

4. Where your data is stored

Mowdash data is hosted by Convex in the United States. Email delivery is handled by Resend (US/EU). Map tiles and geocoding are served by Mapbox (US/EU). Push delivery is handled by Expo (US). If you use the app from outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

5. How long we keep data

We keep account information for as long as your account is active. We keep job records for at least 7 years for tax and accounting reasons. You can request deletion of your account at any time (see Section 6); we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Your rights

You can:

• See the data we hold about you by emailing [email protected].
• Correct your address or landscaper profile from within the app.
• Delete your account by emailing [email protected].
• Turn off push notifications in your device settings.
• Revoke location permission in your device settings.

If you live in California, the EU, or another jurisdiction with specific privacy rights (e.g., access, portability, opt-out of sale), those rights apply to you. We will respond to verified requests within the legal timeframe.

7. Children

Mowdash is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, email [email protected] and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a material way, we will notify you in the app and by email before the change takes effect. Continued use of Mowdash after the change means you accept it. The current version is shown at the top of this page.
